Senior Researcher Presentation Track
Call for Proposals (Discovery Science)
The Senior Researcher Presentation Track at Discovery Science (DS) invites submissions for broad, reflective talks by experienced researchers. The goal of this track is to complement regular technical papers by offering high-level perspectives that synthesize existing work, identify emerging challenges, and outline promising future directions in Discovery Science. The types of submissions (see below) are the same as those of the Senior Members Track of AAAI. However, the submission requirements are different. Presentations are expected to go beyond individual technical contributions and may:
- summarize a mature research area relevant to Discovery Science,
- propose new research directions or problem formulations, or
- highlight opportunities for bridging methods, communities, or disciplines connected to data-driven scientific discovery.
Accepted presentations will be accompanied by an extended abstract published in the conference proceedings.
Important Dates
- May 17th, 2026
Abstract submission deadline - July 21st, 2026
Notification of acceptance
Eligibility
This track is open to researchers who are at least 10 years past their PhD and have established expertise in Discovery Science topics or closely related fields. The track chairs may consider exceptions in special cases.
Subtracks
Submissions should clearly indicate one of the following subtracks:
- Bridge Talks: Presentations that identify and motivate connections between research communities, paradigms, or disciplines.
- Summary Talks: Broad overviews of a well-developed research area, including key ideas and open challenges.
- Blue Sky Talks: Visionary presentations proposing new problems, methods, or perspectives.
Submission Format
Submissions consist of a single extended abstract:
- Length: up to 2 pages including references
- Format: Springer LNCS style
- Content: a concise, self-contained overview of the topic and perspective of the talk
- Authorship: submissions are not anonymous
The extended abstract should clearly describe the scope, motivation, and relevance of the proposed talk.
CV Requirement
Authors should provide a one-page version of their CV in a separate PDF and submit it via CMT demonstrating their expertise and suitability to give the talk.
Reviewing and Selection Process
Submissions will be evaluated by members of the Discovery Science program committee and the track chairs with respect to relevance, clarity, and potential to stimulate discussion. Please note that no individual reviews or detailed feedback will be provided for submissions to this track. The track chairs will select the talks based on the pertinence to the discovery science community and other constraints such as venue availability.
Submission Procedure
Contributions, written in English, must be formatted according to the guidelines of the Lecture Notes of Computer Science (LNCS) series by Springer-Verlag, which are available together with templates here.
DS 2026 will use The Microsoft CMT service to manage the peer-reviewing process for this conference. The Microsoft CMT service was used for managing the peer-reviewing process for this conference. This service was provided for free by Microsoft and they bore all expenses, including costs for Azure cloud services as well as for software development and support.
Please submit your contributions at https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/DS2026/.
Preprint Policy
Papers that have been published on preprint servers, such as arXiv, are eligible for submission.
Main conference
Submission of the camera-ready version of the abstract has to include the authors’ consent to publish on the above Springer LNCS website. Submissions will be reviewed following a so-called “single-blind” procedure. Therefore, authors should include their names and affiliations in the abstract, but reviewers will be anonymous. Authors may not submit any abstract that is under review elsewhere or has been accepted for publication in a journal or another conference; neither will they submit their papers elsewhere during the review period of DS 2026.
Accepted abstracts will be published in the Discovery Science Springer LNCS series.
